Gov. Ron DeSantis, R-Fla., is set to campaign for Trump-endorsed America First candidates across the country for Turning Point Action’s “Unite and Win” rallies in August. Turning Point’s official event schedule shows DeSantis will appear in New Mexico, Arizona, Pennsylvania, and Ohio.
A report from Fox News noted that the Florida governor would lend his support to Republican gubernatorial nominees Kari Lake in Arizona and Doug Mastriano in Pennsylvania. He will also support Arizona Senate candidate Blake Masters.
Charlie Kirk, Turning Point USA founder and president, told the outlet that in New Mexico, DeSantis would be stumping for Rep. Yvette Herrell, R-N.M., who is “poised to hold her critical seat in New Mexico’s 2nd congressional district.”
In Ohio, DeSantis will campaign for Trump-endorsed Senate candidate J.D. Vance and support the GOP gubernatorial nominee in New Mexico, Mark Ronchetti, per Fox News.
Most of the candidates that DeSantis will be supporting in August have been endorsed by Trump except for Ronchetti. Rep. Herrell was endorsed in 2020 during Trump’s first term in office.
The campaign events are being organized and hosted by Turning Point Action. The dates are:
- Aug. 14 in Roswell, New Mexico,
- Aug. 14 in Phoenix, Arizona,
- Aug. 19 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania,
- Aug. 19 in Youngstown, Ohio.
DeSantis’s support is impactful among potential conservative voters. Turning Point USA’s Student Action Summit straw poll conducted in July found that among college-aged respondents attending their event in Florida in July, DeSantis was wildly popular.
While Trump netted 78.7 percent of support in a potential 2024 presidential primary, DeSantis came in second with 19 percent of the vote.
However, if Trump’s name is off the ticket, respondents indicated that they would lend 87 percent of support to Gov. DeSantis, indicating hefty support from America’s youth for the Floridian GOP leader.
DeSantis’s widespread support makes him a powerful force in campaigning for America First candidates across the nation.
