Gov. Ron DeSantis, R-Fla., came out swinging against Joe Biden’s absent immigration policies during a town hall broadcast in Orlando with Laura Ingraham of Fox News.

The governor discussed the effect that illegal immigration has had on the Sunshine State. “If Biden is caravanning people into Florida … I think what you’re seeing there is these are people that are getting here on their own, which is harder to do if there’s a big movement of them, then you can stop at the interstate, and then you can reroute,” said DeSantis.

He added, “We want to reroute to Delaware. We think that that’s appropriate to be able to do that. So that’s what we’re going to do.” The comment drew chuckles from the audience attending the event because Delaware is Joe Biden’s home state.

Human trafficking and drug trafficking are daily occurrences at the southern border.

Illegal immigration has soared in America since Joe Biden took office and eliminated many Trump-era immigration protocols – including the Remain in Mexico policy (Migrant Protection Protocols). According to a report from the Washington Times, Steven A. Camarota of the Center for Immigration Studies postulated that there are now roughly 11.4 million illegal migrants in the U.S.

However, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) revealed that there have already been 1,016,749 total migrant encounters with the Border Patrol for the 2022 fiscal year, which began in October 2021 and will conclude in September 2022.

The governor also pointed out that the drugs pouring into the country because of the open border has harmed American citizens. “It [illegal immigration] affects everybody,” he said. “The fentanyl that’s coming across the border is affecting every state in this union. That’s why the number one cause of death for 18 to 45 is now fentanyl overdoses.”
