President Donald Trump is delivering on his promise to put America First by aggressively tackling the invasion of illegal aliens into the United States over the last four years.
Since taking office, the Trump administration has already slashed the illegal alien population by a whopping 2 million, proving once again that strong leadership secures our borders and protects American workers, communities, and taxpayers from the chaos of open-border policies.
Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin provided details in an exclusive interview with Just the News. She confirmed that federal agencies have directly deported 400,000 illegal aliens since Trump returned to the White House. Additionally, 1.6 million more have self-deported, which is a direct reflection on the effectiveness of the administration’s messaging.
“We’re looking about 2 million total in the past 240 days. That includes 1.6 million self deportations, which we are very much encouraging illegal aliens to take,” McLaughlin said. “It’s a lot safer for the aliens themselves, for the public, for our law enforcement, and also it’s a lot better financially, a lot more tax savings for the US taxpayer. And then in addition to that, there’s been about 400,000 deportations themselves, so totally, about 2 million, but we’re going to get those numbers up.”
These remarks, set to air this week on the “John Solomon Reports” podcast, back up earlier reports of 350,000 deportations by late August and data from the Center for Immigration Studies showing 1.6 million voluntary exits—numbers DHS has independently verified.
Trump has long warned that 20 to 22 million illegal aliens are draining resources, and the two million deportation milestone has certainly provided some relief.
Notably, this progress happened under the outdated Biden-era budget, without the full boost from the One Big, Beautiful Bill that will supercharge Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
McLaughlin said that DHS will hit Trump’s end-of-term goals through ramped-up direct deportations and sustained self-deportations. The pace of voluntary exits may fluctuate, she noted, but with expanded ICE resources on the horizon, direct removals are expected to skyrocket.
