Billionaire entrepreneur and head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) Elon Musk revealed on Monday that FEMA defied President Trump’s executive order to pause spending.

In a post on X, formerly Twitter, Musk wrote, “The DOGE team just discovered that FEMA sent $59M LAST WEEK to luxury hotels in New York City to house illegal migrants. Sending this money violated the law and is in gross insubordination to the President’s executive order.”

Musk then emphasized how the agency’s money was supposed to be spent, “That money is meant for American disaster relief and instead is being spent on high end hotels for illegals! A clawback demand will be made today to recoup those funds.”

During the Biden administration, then-Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre claimed that FEMA was not using funding to pay for illegal migrant hotel rooms.

In another post, Musk shared a video of Jean-Pierre telling the falsehood from the James S. Brady Press Briefing Room podium.

“Yes, that was a huge lie by the Biden administration. Funds were diverted from almost every part of the federal government to maximize the number of illegals in America. There also appear[s] to be significant funds siphoned from Social Security to pay for illegals,” Musk wrote.

The DOGE head reposted another user’s post with various FEMA press releases and media headlines showing hundreds of millions of tax dollars spent on illegal migrants during the Biden-Harris administration.

“Under Biden, FEMA betrayed the American people by diverting funds meant for natural disasters to pay for luxury hotels for illegal migrants,” he wrote.

After Musk’s post, X erupted with posts from furious Americans who have watched FEMA slow-walk relief for hurricane and wildfire victims in the country.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, who has dealt with FEMA multiple times, was unsurprised by the revelation.

“Probably just scratching the surface of the mismanagement/corruption that has become so commonplace…” he wrote on X.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., shared Musk’s post and wrote, “Breaking the law and sending American’s tax dollars to house illegals. People need to go to jail for this.”
