The DOJ posted to X on Tuesday, stating that the new U.S. Department of Justice Museum “represents the culmination of a multi-year effort to establish a central archive for the Department’s 156-year legacy. The museum tells the story of the people, events, and milestones that have shaped the Department and its role in American history.”
“As our nation marked 250 years of democracy, the museum shows how the pursuit of justice has been part of the American story from the very beginning,” it concluded.
According to the DOJ, the U.S. Department of Justice Museum opened on July 20 to celebrate America’s 250th birthday. It was carefully created through years of research and planning with a goal of preserving and sharing the “remarkable history of justice” in the United States.
