Donald Trump Jr. announced Monday night that he is engaged, sharing the news during a White House holiday party attended by family, friends and guests.
Trump Jr., the eldest son of President Donald Trump, said his engagement to Palm Beach, Florida, resident Bettina Anderson marked a positive close to the year.
“It’s not often that I’m at a loss for words because we usually do the ranting and raving really well, but this is a little different. But I just want to wish all of you guys an incredible holiday season, a merry Christmas, a very happy new year, and to thank Bettina for that one word, ‘yes,’” Trump Jr. told the crowd from a podium.
“You go down there and you’re gonna go and you try to ask, you’re not sure what the answer is going to be. It’s a little bit rough. But she said yes, so that’s a big win for the end of the year,” he added.
Anderson also addressed guests at the party, expressing her excitement about the engagement.
“I get to marry the love of my life and I feel just, like, the luckiest girl in the world,” she said.
The engagement comes about a year after Trump Jr. ended his previous engagement to Kimberly Guilfoyle, who has since been named U.S. ambassador to Greece. Trump Jr. was previously married in 2005 and divorced in 2018.
Anderson and her family are frequent visitors to the Trump Organization’s Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach. According to her LinkedIn profile, she graduated from Columbia University in 2009 with a degree in art history, criticism and conservation.
She is the daughter of the late Harry Loy Anderson Jr., a business tycoon who rose to prominence after becoming president of Worth Avenue National Bank at age 26, Newsweek reported. Her mother, Inger Anderson, is a philanthropist who lives in Palm Beach and owns a home valued at about $11.5 million.
