The FBI faces sharp criticism after questioning by Special Counsel John Durham led to a bombshell revelation about the depths the bureau went to try to incriminate President Trump.
According to Fox News, an FBI official testified that the bureau offered Christopher Steele, a former British intelligence agent, $1 million to “corroborate salacious allegations” used in the infamous dossier, which enabled the FBI to “spy” on Trump during his 2016 presidential campaign.
According to the report, Brian Auten, an FBI supervisory counterintelligence analyst that spoke with Steele about the dossier, gave the shocking testimony. Auten then testified that Steele could not corroborate the allegations.
The 45th president has repeatedly denounced the political weaponization of the FBI and the Justice Department. Almost one year after the Steele dossier’s primary source was indicted for allegedly falsifying information, new details continue to emerge concerning the corruption of the FBI’s investigations into the 45th president.
Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, responded to this week’s news, saying, “Wow. The deep state hated Trump so much that the FBI was willing to pay ONE MILLION DOLLARS for dirt on him.”
Political analyst Jack Posobiec also blasted the FBI after reading the report. He said, “The FBI was offering $1 Million for dirt on Trump before he was even elected. Not a good look for all the ‘conservative influencers’ who defended these deep state agencies all these years!”
After raiding the 45th president’s residence at Mar-a-Lago in August, the FBI has received intense criticism from Republican lawmakers and the American people. Tuesday’s testimony puts the FBI in the hot seat once again as Trump’s characterization of the “swamp” continues to manifest in front of the American people.
