Just one day after walking away from the Democrat Party, former 2020 presidential contender Tulsi Gabbard threw her support behind New Hampshire’s Republican Senate candidate.
In a Wednesday statement, retired Gen. Don Bolduc, the Granite State’s Republican nominee for Senate, confirmed that Gabbard would be joining him on the campaign trail in the coming weeks as he seeks to unseat Democrat Sen. Maggie Hassan.
“We don’t agree on every issue,” Bolduc noted, “but I am honored to have the support of Tulsi Gabbard who shares my view that the status quo is broken, and we need a change of direction.”
He continued, “Tulsi is a fellow change agent and independent-minded outsider willing to speak truth to power. I am going to spend every day between now and election day building a wide coalition of supporters that includes Republicans, independents and even disaffected Democrats who know that Senator Hassan is a career politician and must be retired.”
Although Bolduc has not yet received an official endorsement from President Donald Trump, the president congratulated the retired general on his primary win last month, describing him as a “great gentleman.”
Meanwhile, Gabbard made headlines Tuesday when she declared her departure from the Democrat Party, stating that the party was “under the complete control of an elitist cabal of warmongers who are driven by cowardly wokeness.”
Slamming Democrats for “stoking anti-white racism” and division, the former congresswoman said she could no longer support her former colleagues. She condemned their attacks on people of faith and the police, promotion of open borders, political weaponization of the government, and flirtation with “nuclear war.”
Noting that today’s Democrat Party stands for a government “of, by, and for the powerful elite,” Gabbard encouraged others to follow in her footsteps.
“Now, I’m calling on my fellow common-sense, independent-minded Democrats to join me in leaving the Democratic Party,” she said. “If you can no longer stomach the direction the so-called ‘woke’ Democratic ideologues are taking the country, then I invite you to join me.”
