FBI Director Kash Patel confirmed this week that the agency had taken steps towards accountability for those involved in the Arctic Frost probe that directly targeted President Trump following the 2020 presidential election. In a Truth Social post on Monday, President Trump blasted the agents who were involved in the probe led by Department of Justice Special Counsel Jack Smith and called on Patel to remove them from the agency.
“These FBI Agents are total Scum, in their own way no better than the insurrectionists in Portland, Minnesota, Los Angeles, etc.,” President Trump said. “Kash better get them out, NOW! Radical Left Lunatics put in by the “Auto Pen” and Obama!”
President Trump’s post came in response to reports showing an agent with outspoken bias against the Trump administration had played a key role in initiating the probe.
Patel responded to President Trump’s post, assuring him that the agents responsible had already been removed from their positions within the FBI.
“Thank you Mr. President. Under your leadership, this FBI found the corrupt actors and terminated their employment last year,” Patel said. “America voted for the end of weaponized law enforcement, and that’s what we are delivering.”
The FBI reportedly fired two special agents involved in the Arctic Frost last year after documents released by the Senate Judiciary Committee revealed the investigation had targeted Republican members of Congress. The probe included an analysis of the phone records of nine Republican lawmakers.
The congressional investigation into the Arctic Frost probe, led by Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley, R-IA, and Sen. Ron Johnson, R- WI, has delved into the origins of the FBI operation and questioned its partisan nature. In an interview with Fox News Digital, Sen. Johnson said the records released by the FBI show the probe was intended as a partisan attack against President Trump and his supporters.
“The recent records produced by the FBI contain even more damning evidence of the Biden administration’s unapologetic abuse of power during the Arctic Frost investigation,” Johnson said. “The American people deserve to know the full extent of Jack Smith’s massive partisan dragnet, which targeted law-abiding U.S. citizens.”
