First Lady Melania Trump announced on Tuesday the launch of a new global coalition focused on protecting the well-being of children by emphasizing education, innovation, and technology within safe parameters.
This new coalition, “Fostering the Future Together,” is the First Lady’s response to a rapidly changing technological landscape dominated heavily by AI tech.
“We have all stood there, gazing,” Mrs. Trump said during remarks at the United Nations in New York. “What can I do? As a child’s dreaming world manifests their curiosity in the physical world, their imagination is a place filled with pastimes which adults often consider insignificant, unimportant. But I wonder – are these early childhood activities rehearsals for the future perfection of society? The blueprint for our progress?”
She continued, “As children, we all played marbles, flew paper airplanes, and ran with a thin string in our hands, watching our kites lift off. Great minds have turned marbles into microchips, paper airplanes into drones, and kites into satellites. Innovation is wonderful.”
Yet, importantly, the First Lady noted, “Nothing comes before safety.”
She issued a call to “safeguard healthy environments for our children, protect their personal freedom, their confidence, and motivation.”
The First Lady said that “safety multiplies innovation,” and reminded the audience that the children of today will revolutionize the culture and technology of tomorrow: “How we live, travel, design, and connect,” she remarked.
“Fostering the Future Together’s mission is to ensure that every child can flourish in the digital era,” Mrs. Trump stated.
This new initiative is a continuation of the First Lady’s extensive work with America’s children.
According to the White House, “Fostering the Future Together” will include the spouses or equivalent representatives of heads of government: “Fostering the Future Together will be implemented by participating members at the local level, within their respective countries. Mrs. Trump will host Fostering the Future Together’s inaugural meeting at the White House during the first quarter of 2026.”
