Amazon MGM Studios announced Thursday that it will release a feature-length documentary about First Lady Melania Trump next year, offering what the studio describes as “unprecedented access” to her life and role leading up to the 2025 presidential inauguration.

The film, titled “Melania,” will debut in U.S. theaters and select international markets on January 30, 2026, before streaming later on Prime Video. It will also be accompanied by a three-part docuseries expanding on the same themes, the studio said.

Directed by Brett Ratner, known for blockbusters such as “Rush Hour” and “X-Men: The Last Stand,” the project was produced with Melania Trump’s full participation. Filming began in December 2024, one month after President Donald Trump was re-elected to a second term.

Amazon MGM Studios announced the project with a promotional image showing the first lady gazing out of a car window onto an airfield. “Amazon MGM Studios will release ‘MELANIA’ exclusively in theaters on Friday, January 30 in the U.S. and select territories overseas,” the studio wrote in its statement.

“‘MELANIA’ offers unprecedented access to the 20 days leading up to the 2025 Presidential Inauguration — through the eyes of the First Lady-elect herself,” the statement continued. “Step inside Melania Trump’s world as she orchestrates inauguration plans, navigates the complexities of the White House transition, and reenters public life with her family.”

The studio said the film includes “exclusive footage capturing critical meetings, private conversations, and never-before-seen environments” and aims to portray “Mrs. Trump’s return to one of the world’s most powerful roles.”

First Lady Melania Trump is listed as one of the film’s executive producers, giving her creative input on the project. According to studio representatives, the film will balance personal and political narratives, exploring both the ceremonial duties of the first lady and her personal reflections on returning to the White House.

Ratner, who has rarely directed political or documentary films, said in a statement that the project presented a “unique opportunity to document history in real time through one of the most private yet intriguing figures in modern politics.”

The documentary follows a surge of renewed public interest in Melania Trump since her husband’s return to the presidency. While often maintaining a low profile, the first lady has reemerged as a visible figure during the early months of Trump’s second administration, championing child advocacy initiatives and hosting cultural events at the White House.

Her 2024 memoir, “Melania,” topped bestseller lists and gave readers a glimpse into her experiences during Trump’s first term, as well as her reflections on family, motherhood, and public life. The documentary’s release marks one of Amazon MGM Studios’ highest-profile political features since the companies merged in 2023.
