President Donald Trump’s anticipated State of the Union address on Tuesday night will be watched across the world, allowing him to highlight his administration’s accomplishments and his plans for the future.
Every year, it is customary for the president and the First Lady to invite special and honored guests to the address – guests who often represent causes central to the administration’s values or core agenda items.
This year, First Lady Melania Trump is inviting two young women to the State of the Union address who represent causes that are close to Mrs. Trump’s heart: the well-being of foster youth and the responsible integration and use of AI in education.
According to the Office of the First Lady, Mrs. Trump will be accompanied on Tuesday night by Sierra Burns and Everest Nevraumont. Burns is a participant in the Melania Trump Foster Youth to Independence Program, and Nevraumont is a 10-year-old Alpha School student, TedX speaker, and AI advocate.
“Sierra and Everest embody my ongoing mission to uplift America’s foster youth and expand opportunity for our next generation through education and technology,” said the First Lady in a statement.
She continued, “I am proud to have them join me at this historic event. Sierra and Everest represent the young people across America whose personal experience, drive, and self-motivation reflect the goals of my BE BEST Fostering the Future initiatives.”
The First Lady has actively championed the well-being of American youth through her initiatives “Be Best” and “Fostering the Future.” She has also advocated for the safe and responsible use of AI technology for children.
“During this primitive stage, it is our duty to treat AI as we would our own children – empowering, but with watchful guidance,” she said last fall, during a meeting of the White House Task Force on AI Education.
Tuesday’s State of the Union address will begin at 9:00 PM EST. Watch the speech live on RSBN.
