Florida First Lady Casey DeSantis announces ‘Hope’ initiative to encourage students

Florida’s First Lady, Casey DeSantis, wife of Gov. Ron DeSantis, R-Fla., announced that 100 schools have launched Hope Ambassadors Clubs across 39 school districts within the Sunshine State.

In addition to the 300 percent increase from the 25 participating schools of the 2020-2021 school year, Florida’s First Lady surprised everyone with a $100,000 donation from Simply Healthcare Plans Inc. The donation will be awarded to the state’s Hope for Healing Initiative.

Hope For Healing is a campaign designed to help those in need of mental health and substance of abuse. The program was initiated in May of 2019 and announced by First Lady DeSantis at Roland Park K-8 Magnet School in Tampa, Fla. Spearheading the operation was Hope Ambassadors along with the Florida Department of Education and Volunteer Florida.

Joining the youth-centered program is 100 middle and high schools with a shared vision of promoting a profitable learning environment for school aged children. The Ambassadors Club began in December of 2019 under the leadership of First Lady DeSantis with a vision for peer-to-peer volunteerism and mentorship within educational institutions. A remarkable 300 students participated in the opening year of the program.

While Gov. DeSantis has built a reputation for defending Florida schools from wokeism, First Lady DeSantis has made it a “priority” to crisscross the state, crafting her own resume learning more about Florida “schools, students, and families.”

Expounding on her time spent with parents, “I know that parents need and want a safe, healthy and happy learning environment for their children,” said First Lady Casey DeSantis. The impact and rapid growth of Hope Ambassadors has warmed the heart of the First Lady to the point of being “overjoyed,” by the “compassion of Florida’s youth.”

Hope Ambassadors is made possible by generous donations from those that are invested into creating a kind learning environment among students and the wellbeing of Florida families. With a $100,000 investment, Florida Plan President of Simply, Holly Prince, is elated to “team up” with the First Lady to accomplish the goals of Hope Ambassadors. Simply is committed to delivering the “proper resources,” to meet the needs of students with mental health requirements.

From prioritizing families over school boards to providing students with access to their health needs, the governing of Florida’s First Family is a goal that other states should aspire to achieve.
