Congress has not approved sending U.S. troops into the Russia-Ukraine war, but the recent Pentagon leaks alleged that 14 special forces units are stationed on the ground in Ukraine, per the New York Post.

If true, this could be a violation of U.S. law, and in response, Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., has introduced a resolution to force the Biden administration to reveal the number of troops deployed in Ukraine.

On Monday, the Antiwar.com Twitter page posted about the resolution, to which Gaetz proudly declared, “We the People are tired of being lied to and lied about.”

The Russia-Ukraine war has already cost Americans greatly. Public support for U.S. involvement in the conflict is shaky as economic strife continues. Further, the value of the dollar has plunged so far that various countries are considering removing it as their monetary standard, via the Geopolitical Economy Report

While some proponents of the war may claim that American aid is helping displaced families, putting American soldiers on the ground is not as popular.

In February, a clip of Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy claiming that Americans need to hypothetically prepare to “send their sons and daughters” to war and that “they will have to fight” received incredible backlash from angry Americans, according to The DC Patriot.

The Council on Foreign Relations recently reported that most of the $75 billion in American tax dollars spent on the Russia-Ukraine war is being utilized for military purposes. As Americans continue to struggle financially, Rep. Gaetz is working to ensure that taxpayers know whether or not military service members’ lives are also being risked for the overseas conflict so the public can weigh in on going to war.
