Girl who survived Texas floods at Camp Mystic delivers powerful performance of ‘Hallelujah’

Twelve-year-old Skyler Derrington rewrote the lyrics to the popular song “Hallelujah” after surviving the devastating floods that brought tragedy to Camp Mystic in Texas last month. 

“Fox & Friends” co-host Ainsley Earhardt posted a clip of the girl’s powerful response to the tragedy, reminding viewers that over 130 people perished in the July 4 disaster, including 27 of the children at Camp Mystic.

The response to Derrington’s performance has been truly moving. 

Moms for America praised her bravery and noted, “Her faith and courage are truly inspiring.”

Valuetainment Media posted, “God bless her and all the families affected by this tragedy.”

Software Engineer Luca Taner stated, “THIS is the spirit of true American resilience and faith. When the mainstream media tries to divide us, it’s moments like these that remind us of the power of unity and faith. Incredible courage and talent in the face of adversity! God bless this young patriot and her unwavering strength.”

Assistant News Director of Florida Voice News, Eric Daugherty called it simply, “Amazing.”

Rep. Wesley Hunt, R-Tex., stated, “The most moving thing you’ll see all week: A young girl, who survived the devastating Camp Mystic floods in Texas, sang a powerful rendition of ‘Hallelujah’ on Fox and Friends this morning. A voice of hope rising from heartbreak. God bless her and all the families.”
