Since receiving President Trump’s endorsement, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott’s reelection has been gaining momentum with the state’s business owners.
A group of 30 prominent Texas businesses recently came together to endorse Abbott’s campaign in a promotional video.
Glenn Hammer, the CEO of Texas Business Association, said “Governor Abbott is a tireless champion for Texas job creators.” Business member of Wholesale Beer Distributors of Texas, Laurie Brown believes Abbott is “key to continuing the state’s booming economy.”
“Texas manufacturing produces 10 percent of all goods manufactured in America,” said board member of Manufacturers PAC of Texas Tony Bennett. “And the ‘Made In Texas’ label has global recognition.”
The governor is sitting comfortably ahead of his primary challengers with 59 percent of the vote between all of his competitors, according to The Hill.
The current governor also has an advantage over who seems to be the Democrat favorite, Beto O’Rourke, who has out-fundraised all other Democrat candidates in the field with a whopping $7.2 million after just seven weeks into the campaign.
Abbott currently holds a commanding eight-point lead against O’Rourke, The Hill reported.
President Trump gave the governor his stamp of approval last summer when he endorsed him in a crowded GOP primary.
Trump in a statement last June said, “Greg Abbott is a fighter and a Great Governor for the incredible people of Texas.” He continued, “Governor Greg Abbott will continue to be a great leader for the Lone Star State, and has my Complete and Total Endorsement for re-election. He will never let you down!”
