Gov. Ron DeSantis, R-Fla., recently spoke against doctors who perform sex-changing surgeries on children, insisting “they need to be sued.”

“But they don’t tell you what that is, is they are actually giving very young girls double mastectomies, they want to castrate these young boys,” the governor said during a press conference Wednesday. “That’s wrong, and so we’ve stood up and said both from the health and children well-being perspective, you don’t disfigure 10-, 12-, 13-year-old kids based on gender dysphoria.”

“I think these doctors need to get sued for what’s happening,” he asserted.

This is not the first time DeSantis has taken a stand against sex-altering surgeries.

As RSBN reported, DeSantis’s administration has taken significant action to halt the practice of medical sex changes in Florida.

The Florida Department of Health (FDH) issued guidance that pushed back on the “unscientific shift in the treatment of gender dysphoria for children and adolescents.” Florida Surgeon General Joseph Ladapo further advised the Florida Board of Medicine to consider the FDH’s guidance.

According to the FDH’s April report, there is a “lack of conclusive evidence, and the potential for long-term, irreversible effects” for social gender transition treatment, puberty blocker or hormone therapy prescriptions, and gender reassignment surgery.

The FDH also cited “currently available evidence” to support an “unacceptably high risk of doing harm” to a child by promoting sex-changing surgeries.

Similarly, the governor has worked hard to prevent young children from being exposed to leftist ideology in schools.

As of July, the state’s Individual Freedom Act, also known as the “Stop W.O.K.E. Act,” officially took effect, banning the teaching of critical race theory (CRT) throughout classrooms and workplaces in the Sunshine State, as previously reported.
