Gov. Kristi Noem, R-S.D., made a special appearance in Washington, D.C., at this year’s CPAC, where she delivered a speech touting South Dakota as a model for success for the nation and urged Republicans to vote for Donald J. Trump in 2024.
“We need to look for our leaders outside of the swamp,” she said.
She reminded the crowd that she was one of the first people to endorse President Donald Trump’s 2024 reelection bid, sharing, “We need to WIN. We need a fighter.”
She encouraged Americans to look at all that South Dakota had achieved under her governorship and then to head out and vote for Donald J. Trump in 2024. “Our next president NEEDS to be President Trump,” she declared.
Gov. Noem heavily focused on addressing the ongoing border crisis during her remarks, noting that she was the first governor in the nation to deploy National Guard troops to the southern border to help protect American sovereignty.
“Our border is a warzone,” she lamented, roasting Joe Biden for engaging in a “violation of federal law” for his failure to secure the border.
“WE will defend our states’ rights to defend our people,” Noem continued.
She also said that she would be sending more National Guard troops to Texas, where they will aid in the construction of a wall, “a barrier” against illegal immigrants.
In her comments, Gov. Noem laid out the sparkling accomplishments of her South Dakota leadership, including her anti-lockdown and anti-shutdown approach to handling the Covid pandemic. She also touted the state’s low unemployment, “unprecedented population growth” and her strong stance against a Central Bank Digital Currency.
