Governor Ron DeSantis, R-Fla., is reportedly uninjured after being involved in a car accident early Tuesday morning, multiple sources have reported.

The governor was on his way to Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Per Fox News, a spokesman for the governor confirmed that DeSantis was in a car accident on Tuesday, giving the outlet the following statement:

“This morning, the governor was in a car accident while traveling to an event in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He and his team are uninjured.”

According to the Associated Press, DeSantis is scheduled to hold events throughout Tennessee over the next few days.

In late May, the governor announced his presidential candidacy, launching him to the forefront of a battle with President Donald Trump, who is fighting to reclaim the White House in 2024.

However, the 45th president has swiftly dominated DeSantis in all GOP political primary polling, demonstrating Republicans’ preference for Trump as 2024 inches closer. As previously reported by RSBN, the president is leading by 30 to 40 points in GOP primary polls.

For example, an impressive Rasmussen survey of likely U.S. GOP primary voters found that Trump had a 44-point lead over DeSantis, with the president earning 57 percent of support compared to the governor’s 13 percent.

In a JMC Analytics survey, Trump earned 53 percent of Republican primary support while DeSantis netted 17 percent.

Despite campaigning in key states like Iowa and New Hampshire, DeSantis is still significantly trailing President Trump. Per RSBN, Race to the WH is also predicting that Trump will easily win South Carolina, Nevada, New Hampshire, and Iowa in the primary battle next year.

Trump facetiously commented this week, “The DeSanctimonious polls are crashing because of his stance on obliterating Social Security and Medicare…attracting small crowds that leave really early – never a good sign!”
