President Trump’s heartfelt visit on Wednesday to East Palestine, Ohio, struck a chord with residents whose lives have been impacted by the toxic chemical train disaster that befell the community in early February.
One novel moment stood out to patrons and employees of a local McDonald’s, where the president bought lunch for the first responders in the area who have been working the disaster site.
Trump quipped, “So, I know this menu better than you do. I probably know it better than anybody in here.”
Trump has long been known for his love of McDonald’s. In fact, while in the White House, President Trump ordered McDonald’s signature Quarter Pounder and Big Mac burgers for the Clemson University football team in 2019 after their victory in the College Football Playoff National Championship, per The Guardian.
Trump’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner, even highlighted one of Trump’s favorite McDonald’s meals in his memoir, “Breaking History” released last year.
In it, he shared that among Trump’s top meals at the fast-food giant, the 45th president enjoyed a Big Mac, Filet-o-Fish, French fries, and a vanilla milkshake, reported the Washington Examiner.
Trump’s Wednesday visit to East Palestine came amid Joe Biden’s refusal to visit Ohio himself.
Instead, Biden left the country on Presidents’ Day to visit Ukraine, where he promised Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky $500 million in additional military aid, via The Hill.
As reported by RSBN, FEMA had initially denied requests for aid for East Palestine residents but seemed to change their tune following Trump’s announcement that he would be visiting the community this week.
President Trump was greeted by residents of East Palestine who thanked him for visiting them in their hour of need. “Thank you so much for coming!” one woman in the crowd said.
Another remarked that Trump was “the REAL president!”
Crowds of citizens gathered on the streets where Trump’s motorcade passed by. He signed autographs and handed out MAGA hats emblazoned with the number “47,” hinting at his potential incoming second term as president if he wins the presidential election in 2024.
