Herschel Walker, former NFL star and candidate for U.S. Senate, said he is going to “get out and fight for the people,” in a Sunday interview with Fox News’ Maria Bartiromo.
Early in the segment, Walker gave his reaction to the video of California recall candidate Larry Elder, being assaulted by a white woman in a gorilla mask, calling out the Left for their hypocrisy.
“Well you know, that video is very disgusting. The left do not saying anything about it. It shows the intolerance that they have, because if that was reversed, and that was a Democrat who was being assaulted like that, you just think what would happen,” Walker said. “And I think something needs to be happening. That’s one reason I said we need to have law and order for all people. Not just one side of the people.”
In a recent Georgia Senate GOP primary poll by Trafalgar Group, Walker is shown pulling ahead by a huge margin against his Republican rivals, with a lead of more than 70 percent. He is currently fighting to unseat Sen. Raphael Warnock, a Democrat who won against Georgia Republican Sen. Kelly Loeffler in a highly contentious 2021 runoff election.
When asked by Bartiromo if he believes he has a fair shot at winning, the NFL legend admitted that he is staying positive, but vigilant.
“Well, I think that’s one of the things that we have to think about. One thing they have done here in Georgia right now, and they passed a couple of laws that I think is going to help me get a fair shot, but at the same time, we are going to have to keep an eye on everything,” Walker said.
“I think we’ve got to be vigilant, and people need to know what’s going on. That’s one reason I said I needed to run, because we’ve got to put trust back in our government, and our government officials,” Walker said. “Right now, the rate of trust in our government officials is very low, and I know that’s what we have to do, we have to stand for, to give people the right to vote, because that’s one of the most privileged things you have. I’m going to fight right now, I’m going to get a fair election and I think its going to happen.”
Celebrating President Donald Trump’s total endorsement of him, Walker admitted that he felt it was necessary in order for him to win.
“I really want to say thank you President Trump for your endorsement, the people of Georgia know that I needed that endorsement but they also know that Herschel is going to be running this campaign. Herschel’s going to get out and I’m going to fight for the people and one of the things I want people to know, is this is what I’m going to do,” he added.
Towards the end of the interview, Bartiromo pressed Walker on his main campaign issues, and what changes he would like to see made if he wins the senate seat.
“First of all, I think the main platform is to bring some integrity, to bring some honesty back to this country,” Walker said. “I believe in supporting our military which is what we should do. I believe in border control. We’ve got to have border control. I believe in school choice.”
The race against Warnock could decide which party controls the U.S. Senate by the end of 2022.
