Hialeah Mayor Esteban “Steve” Bovo announced on Wednesday evening at a local MAGA rally that he was planning to name a local street in the Florida city after the 45th President of the United States, Donald J. Trump.

“I will be asking next week…to be able to authorize and vote affirmatively as we name a street after you: Donald Trump Way!” Mayor Bovo announced onstage.

The mayor also showed a mockup of what the street sign might look like, which President Trump helped hold up for the crowd to see. Rallygoers erupted into cheers of “We love Trump!”

President Trump’s remarks in Hialeah took place during the same time that the third Republican debate was kicking off nearby in Miami. His MAGA rally was a scorching rebuttal of the Republican establishment, whom he called out on Wednesday for wasting time and resources on candidates who could never win in the general election against Joe Biden.

Trump’s speech heavily focused on the scourge of encroaching communism that is threatening the liberties of the United States, speaking at times directly to the Cuban Americans in the audience who had fled communist Cuba for freedom in America.

“If you don’t want to let the communists destroy America like they destroyed Cuba, Venezuela, and Nicaragua, then you need to send a message by voting Crooked Joe Biden and every last Democrat out of office in 2024!” he summarized on Truth Social after departing Hialeah.

President Trump is wildly popular with voters in Florida. Ahead of the approaching state Republican primary, he is leading Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) by a wide margin of 39 points in a new poll from the University of Northern Florida.

The Republican primary election season will officially kick off on Jan. 15, 2024 with the anticipated Iowa caucuses.
