The Democrat Party used to regard Hispanic voters as a stronghold voting bloc, but now, that is changing as it becomes increasingly evident that the Biden administration sympathizes with socialist and communist tendencies. Hispanics who are reminded of their pasts in socialist countries like Cuba and Venezuela, are now veering right.
The Wall Street Journal released a poll this week showing a major shift in Hispanic voters to the Republican Party.
The survey shows that not only are Hispanics split on congressional tickets, but 54 percent of Hispanic voters also disapprove of Biden’s performance in the Oval Office.
“Latinos are more and more becoming swing voters.… They’re a swing vote that we’re going to have to fight for,’’ John Anzalone, a Democrat pollster told the Wall Street Journal. Tony Fabrizio, a Republican-owned polling firm also assisted Anzalone in this study.
The two firms concluded that one of the top issues for the Hispanic demographic was economic issues facing the country. Hispanic men believed that President Trump’s economic policies were preferable by 17 percent, while Hispanic women felt that Biden’s economic policies were more favorable by 10 percent.
In the 2020 election, while Hispanics turned out in higher numbers and voted redder than they ever before, Democrats still won the demographic by 60 percent. Now just under one year in office, the Democrat has lost the stronghold he once had.
The poll also shows that for the midterms quickly approaching, it looks like the Democrat party will have some work to do to gain the grip they once had with Hispanics in dead-heat between both parties tying at 37 percent with 22 percent undecided.
In the United States, Hispanic voters make up for 12.5 percent of the vote, a key demographic that could help the GOP in the 2022 race to win back the House.
