House Republicans are hitting the ground running to implement President Trump’s MAGA agenda.

Lawmakers are heading to Trump National Doral in Florida for their annual issues conference, where they will meet with President Trump to put the finishing touches on the GOP agenda for the next two years.

Fox News reported that the decision to hold the conference at Trump’s resort signals a push for a more unified party.

House Speaker Mike Johnson told reporters last week that he looked forward to Trump’s remarks to Republican attendees.

President Trump has continuously encouraged Republicans to be strong when drafting and passing legislation and plans to be intricately involved in both chambers’ discussions on budget reconciliation to ensure the passage of a massive conservative policy overhaul.

Reconciliations related to budgetary and fiscal policy only require a simple majority in the Senate, which could result in sweeping changes, given that Republicans control both chambers of Congress.

One potential hamstring is the upcoming reinstatement of the debt ceiling, which was temporarily suspended with support from both sides of the aisle during the Trump administration.

Rep. Mike Lawler, R-N.Y., a moderate, told Fox News, “With President Trump’s inauguration behind us, now we’re focused on the task at hand – everything from the border to the tax package, energy and defense and national security, and our debt. What we need to do over the next two years to really fulfill the agenda that we laid out for the American people.”

He predicted that Trump’s focus at the retreat would be reconciliation, which Lawler will likely closely critique.

He and several Republicans have vowed they would never vote for a reconciliation bill that does not lift the state and local (SALT) deduction caps. According to Lawler and others, the limits have placed a strain on suburban districts near major cities.

Fox News correspondent Aishah Hasnie told viewers about three hardlines from various factions within the Republican Party, including those who want tax cuts in a separate reconciliation bill, those who want SALT caps lifted, and those who want “massive, massive cuts” to spending.

Vice President JD Vance will also meet with House lawmakers at Trump Doral on Tuesday, according to a spokesperson.
