President Donald Trump inspired Americans during remarks at his Mint Hill, North Carolina, event on Wednesday, declaring he will “never back down” from the growing threats against him.
The words come as Trump has faced two assassination attempts and plots from Iranians against his life in recent weeks.
“Our enemies are desperate to prevent Donald Trump from returning to the White House because they know I will make America great again. They don’t want that,” Trump said.
“Four years ago, our country was feared and respected, and our country will soon be feared and respected again. We have to have that. And that’s why we all need to pull together to thwart these attempts and to bring back American strength, power, and prestige. We will soon have it back,” he continued.
“No threat will shake me, no enemy will intimidate me, and I have never been more determined than I am today and I will never back down in my fight to make America great again,” Trump concluded.
The 45th president’s speech addressed U.S. trade, recounting achievements during his term in the White House.
The strong words also came after Trump spoke out in an overnight social media post, revealing that his campaign had been briefed by intelligence about assassination threats from Iran. Trump referred to the plans as a “Death Wish” for anyone to attack a former president.
“Big threats on my life by Iran. The entire U.S. Military is watching and waiting. Moves were already made by Iran that didn’t work out, but they will try again. Not a good situation for anyone. I am surrounded by more men, guns, and weapons than I have ever seen before,” Trump posted to Truth Social early Wednesday.
“Thank you to Congress for unanimously approving far more money to Secret Service – Zero ‘NO’ Votes, strictly bipartisan. Nice to see Republicans and Democrats get together on something. An attack on a former President is a Death Wish for the attacker!” he added.
