Ivanka Trump helped distribute food, supplies and Starlink units in Hickory, North Carolina, following massive storm damage from Hurricane Helene.
Ivanka, daughter of President Donald Trump and a former White House advisor in her father’s administration, traveled from her home in Florida as part of the relief efforts.
“YUGE shout out to @IvankaTrump and the Love and Light Foundation for flying in 300 STARLINK units for the #helene victims of the #NorthCarolinaFlood!” a post from the United Cajun Army, a disaster relief effort from Louisiana, posted to X on Wednesday.
Ivanka Trump partnered with CityServe in the relief efforts with flight assistance from Love & Life. Food was donated by Planet Harvest, according to a report by TMZ. The report also featured photos showing her 10-year-old son Joseph with her during the relief efforts.
The Starlink units were provided to offer free internet access via the satellite system developed by SpaceX founder Elon Musk.
As RSBN previously reported, Trump told people in Valdosta, Georgia, on Tuesday that he had spoken with Musk about setting up internet services for people impacted by Hurricane Helene.
The report came following widespread internet outages, especially in Western North Carolina, following storms over the weekend that left over 190 dead as of Thursday.
“I just spoke to Elon. We want to get Starlink hooked up because they have no communication whatsoever. And Elon will always come through. We know that. So we’re working on that,” Trump said.
Musk posted a late-night update on his X account with his latest response.
“Since the Hurricane Helene disaster, SpaceX has sent as many Starlink terminals as possible to help areas in need,” Musk wrote. “Earlier today, @realDonaldTrump alerted me to additional people who need Starlink Internet in North Carolina. We are sending them terminals right away.”
A Trump-authorized GoFundMe page was also launched this week to assist storm victims. Over $4.7 million has already been raised in the effort.
President Joe Biden visited Raleigh, North Carolina, on Wednesday to meet with emergency responders. He stated that 1,000 troops are being sent to respond to disaster relief efforts.
