Despite a streak of wins for the Democratic Party on election day, JD Vance remained optimistic in a message to his fellow Republicans. On Wednesday, Vice President Vance shared his thoughts on the election in a post on X, calling for unity and focused action from the GOP.

Tuesday’s elections saw a wave of Democratic victories. However, as Vice President Vance pointed out, the wins were somewhat predictable and occurred in largely blue-leaning states. Vance called on Republicans to rally around the common goal of winning the 2026 midterm elections and highlighted three main areas the party could focus on to achieve success.

“I think it’s idiotic to overreact to a couple of elections in blue states, but a few thoughts: 1) Scot Pressler, TPUSA, and a bunch of others have been working hard to register voters. I said it in 2022, and I’ve said it repeatedly since: our coalition is ‘lower propensity’ and that means we have to do better at turning out voters than we have in the past,” Vice President Vance said.

Scott Preslar, a Republican activist and founder of Early Vote Action, echoed the vice president’s optimism in his own post on X.

“‘Thank you,’ Vice President Vance. I can say without hesitation & with resolve that I did everything within my power to positively impact the elections yesterday. Regroup. Strategize. Prepare for 2026,” Preslar said.

Vance continued by stressing the importance of focusing on President Trump’s domestic agenda and achieving economic victories that could boost the GOP in next year’s midterm elections.

“2) We need to focus on the home front. The president has done a lot that has already paid off in lower interest rates and lower inflation, but we inherited a disaster from Joe Biden and Rome wasn’t built in a day,” Vance said. “We’re going to keep on working to make a decent life affordable in this country, and that’s the metric by which we’ll ultimately be judged in 2026 and beyond.”

Finally, the Vice President urged Republicans to come together in unity. Although he did not specify areas of disagreement or conflict, he encouraged supporters to stay focused on the big picture and the issues that unite rather than divide the party.

“3) The infighting is stupid. I care about my fellow citizens–particularly young Americans–being able to afford a decent life, I care about immigration and our sovereignty, and I care about establishing peace overseas so our resources can be focused at home,” Vance said. “If you care about those things too, let’s work together.”
