Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, has issued subpoenas for specific communications to FBI Director Christopher Wray and U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland at the DOJ this week in relation to an investigation being conducted by the House Committee on the Judiciary.
The investigation, spearheaded by Rep. Jordan, who is the chairman of the committee, is aimed at uncovering any possible collusion or coercion that allegedly took place between the executive branch and Big Tech companies.
As reported by RSBN, Jordan previously shared shocking documents that allegedly proved that Facebook censored Americans on their site after receiving pressure from the Biden administration.
The documents in question centered on internal notes that Jordan subpoenaed, which revealed that Biden administration officials allegedly had conversations with Facebook employees regarding how to control certain content on the platform.
In Jordan’s subpoena to FBI Director Wray, he wrote, “It is necessary for Congress to gauge the extent to which FBI agents coerced, pressured, worked with, or relied upon social media and other tech companies in order to censor speech. The scope of the Committee’s investigation includes understanding the extent and nature of the FBI’s involvement in this censorship.”
He noted that the committee had written to Wray in April to ask for Wray’s voluntary cooperation with House oversight. He said that the FBI had only thus far produced a “single document” of a deposition of Investigation Assistant Special Agent in Charge Elvis Chan in the high-profile Missouri v. Biden case.
Jordan cited the FBI’s “inadequate voluntary compliance” as the grounds to issue an attached subpoena for requested documents.
In an identical letter to U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland, Chairman Jordan made the same request, noting inadequate voluntary compliance as the precursor for issuing the subpoena for requested documents as it pertained to the committee’s investigation into the matter.
