Joe Rogan confronts CNN’s Sonja Gupta, claims that CNN was ‘lying’ about his COVID-19 treatment

CNN reported last month that popular podcast host Joe Rogan was taking a horse dewormer to treat his diagnosed case of Covid-19, a report that Rogan vehemently refuted.

Rogan took issue with CNN’s coverage of his coronavirus treatment, which the network, along with other Left-leaning outlets, reported the comedian had taken a “controversial horse de-wormer” known as Ivermectin, implying that he was taking a drug used strictly for veterinary care and setting a dangerous example for his fans.

CNN’s Dr. Sanjay Gupta appeared on The Joe Rogan Experience where Rogan confronted and castigated him for what he called CNN’s “lies.”

And Gupta got the full Joe Rogan Experience as he sat down for an over three-hour interview with the podcast icon last week. To say the least, Rogan let Gupta and CNN feel his wrath.

Clay Travis posted the video the heated exchange to Twitter:

The New York Post transcribed the discussion:

“They shouldn’t have said that,’ Gupta said of the network referring to the medication as a “horse dewormer.”

‘By the way, I’m glad you’re better,’ Gupta told the podcast host.

‘Thank you. You’re probably the only one at CNN who’s glad … The rest of them are all lying about me taking horse medication,’ Rogan replied.

‘That bothered you,’ Gupta said.

‘It should bother you too,’ Rogan replied. ‘They’re lying at your network about people taking human drugs versus drugs for veterinary.’

Gupta acknowledged that ‘calling it a ‘horse dewormer’ is not the most flattering thing.’

‘It’s a lie,” Rogan shot back. ‘It’s a lie on a news network … and it’s a lie that they’re conscious of. It’s not a mistake. They’re unfavorably framing it as veterinary medicine.’

‘It can be used for humans! I get it,’ Gupta said.

‘Not just could be used for humans, is often used for humans along with all the other drugs that I took. All human drugs,’ the podcast host said. ‘They know it’s a human drug and they lied. It’s defamatory.’

‘Yeah, they shouldn’t have done that,’ Gupta replied. ‘I don’t know if it’s defamatory.’”

It hasn’t been a good year for CNN.

According to Fox News, “CNN had a dismal September, failing to reach 1 million viewers on any of its programs for 23 out of the 30 days in the month, equating to a staggering 77% of the time according to Nielsen data. Last September, in the final weeks of the 2020 election, CNN averaged 950,000 total day viewers. This September, the network averaged just 557,000, a 41% drop.”

The network’s ratings have dropped precipitously since President Trump left the White House. And if the current trend holds, they could take a detrimental financial hit.
