Kamala Harris Races to Visit the Border Before President Trump

El Paso, Texas – More than three months after Biden assigned Kamala Harris to manage the border crisis, she is finally traveling to the US-Mexico border for the first time in El Paso, Texas on Friday, June 25 – but only after President Trump vowed to go first.

Although the specifics of her visit have not yet been released, Harris’ senior adviser and chief spokesperson confirmed that she will be accompanied by Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas.

Kamala Harris made it a priority to schedule foreign trips to Guatemala and Mexico earlier this month to address “root causes” of the mass migration, but she appeared to show hesitation when it came to visiting America’s frontlines where most illegal immigration crossings, drug trafficking, and human trafficking, is occurring.

Her announcement came shortly after President Donald J. Trump announced he would be visiting the border on Wednesday, June 30, to draw attention to the federal government’s lack of response and unwillingness to alter the course of a dramatic uptick in border apprehensions not seen since 2006, according to preliminary Customs and Border Protection data

“After months of ignoring the crisis at the Southern Border, it is great that we got Kamala Harris to finally go and see the tremendous destruction and death that they’ve created—a direct result of Biden ending my very tough but fair Border policies,” said Trump in a statement on Wednesday.

“Harris and Biden were given the strongest Border in American history. And now, it is by far the worst in American history,” Trump continued, slamming their mishandling of the border. “If Governor Abbott and I weren’t going there next week, she would have never gone!”

Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., concurred that there is “no doubt” in his mind that “Harris’s long-overdue visit to the US-Mexico border was prompted by President Trump’s decision to visit the border next week.”

“The Biden/Harris team could not afford to allow Trump to visit the border first,” Graham added. “Great job, President Trump.”

As Trump mentioned, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, who has vowed to continue building Trump’s border wall, will be joining him at the border. About a dozen House Republicans, including Rep. Jim Banks, are also reportedly set to attend.
