Arizona GOP gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake isn’t backing down in the face of a legal attack from Maricopa County Recorder Stephen Richer, an individual whom Lake has previously slammed for allegedly contributing to the problems that plagued the county on Election Day in November 2022.
As reported by RSBN, Richer himself drew intense scrutiny in early 2023 for his testimony regarding Election Day Drop Box ballots and the chain of custody forms that were allegedly created for them. Lake has claimed that Richer’s statements were “false.”
Conversely, Richer has claimed that her statements are defamatory.
On Thursday, Richer announced that he would be suing Lake for defamation, just weeks after the conservative personality and close Trump ally received the news that her lawsuit had ultimately been struck down by Maricopa Superior Court Judge Thompson after a months-long battle to overturn the election results.
Lake responded to Richer’s lawsuit on Twitter with her signature feisty style. She wrote, “I’m exposing the massive corruption in our elections and this jackass is suing me. He wants to silence US. Trump won in a landslide & so did I. Everyone knows it. Corrupt elections have saddled us with disasters like Biden and hobbs. The majority of Americans KNOW our elections are fraudulent. Those who orchestrated the wide-spread fraud want us to shut-up and accept it. We won’t.”
Richer alleged in his statement regarding the lawsuit that Lake’s “defamatory statements have altered my life. For the worse. Materially.”
Lake continued, “Our country is GONE unless we tackle this problem. They want to stop President Trump. They want to stop me. They want to stop you. Not. Going. To. Happen.”
Currently, Kari Lake is considering running for U.S. Senate. She is also rumored to be on President Donald Trump’s shortlist of vice presidential running mates.
In June, Lake announced that she had filed a notice of appeal in her lawsuit. She also assured her supporters that she planned to take the lawsuit to the U.S. Supreme Court if necessary.
