Kari Lake, the Trump-endorsed GOP frontrunner in the gubernatorial primary election in Arizona, has officially won the Republican nomination. According to a report from the Associated Press, the media finally called a victory for Lake following the drawn-out ballot counting processes across different counties.
Lake’s victory was staggering, with the former news anchor and establishment outsider taking the lion’s share of votes in every county in the Grand Canyon State.
“We officially won every single county in Arizona,” Lake wrote in a statement on Twitter. “Clean sweep of the State.”
She added, “This isn’t MY win. This is OUR win. Thank you, Arizona.”
On Wednesday, Lake claimed victory in the primary race, despite the media’s delay in calling the election based on 80 percent of precincts reporting Lake’s solid lead, per RSBN.
Lake dominated her Republican opponent, Karrin Taylor Robson, who was endorsed by former Vice President Mike Pence. Last September, Lake garnered the coveted endorsement of President Donald Trump, who called her a “fantastic person.”
He additionally pointed out in his endorsement that Lake’s background in broadcasting as a television anchor and journalist uniquely positioned her to take on the “Fake News Media.”
Lake has further campaigned in Arizona on a simple but bold platform where she frequently sparred with the legacy media and took unabashed swipes at establishment “RINO” opponent Robson and Democrat gubernatorial opponent and current Secretary of State Katie Hobbs.
In September 2021, Lake told RSBN’s Brian Glenn that she was a “political outsider” who was “not doing this for fame.” She added, “…because there’s no money in politics if you’re being an honest politician. The only politicians that get rich are the corrupt ones.”
Robson conceded in a statement on Thursday, the Associated Press reported.
President Donald Trump reacted to the official race call in a statement posted to Truth Social on Thursday night. “Kari Lake just declared WINNER of Republican Primary in Arizona,” he said. “She will be a GREAT GOVERNOR!”
Lake will now face off against Democrat gubernatorial opponent Katie Hobbs in November.
