Katie Hobbs’ campaign doesn’t know why she won’t debate Kari Lake, Project Veritas video shows

Campaign staffers for Katie Hobbs, Arizona’s Democrat gubernatorial nominee, struggled to provide a reason why the secretary of state will not debate Trump-backed challenger Kari Lake, Project Veritas’ latest report revealed.

In a new video, an undercover Project Veritas Action journalist sat down with Jasper Adams, a field organizer for Mission for Arizona, who shared that Hobbs’ campaign workers “have a lot of concerns about Katie’s campaign” over “lots of stuff.”

When asked why Hobbs has refused to debate Lake, Adams revealed that Hobbs’ communications director, a recent addition to the team, has not been able to come up with an answer for the public or for internal campaign staff.

Adams suggested that despite this, “they’re not going to lose any votes because Democrats are going to vote for her anyway.”

He added, “They just don’t think that the debate is worth [Katie Hobbs’] time, either because they think it’s not going to change anyone’s mind or they think it might actively be bad for her in some way.”

Hobbs’ campaign manager, Nicole DeMont, told the uncover journalist that Hobbs would only debate Lake in “a format that actually allows for a substantive policy debate, where you can compare positions.”

Despite the secretary of state’s refusal to take the debate stage, Lake launched her statewide “Ask Me Anything” tour, where she continues to travel throughout the state and connect with the people of Arizona, per RSBN.

“I’m not going to hide from the voters,” Lake said. “I’m not going to shy away from the tough questions,” she added, pointing at Hobbs’ lack of transparency.

“My opponent Katie Hobbs’ strategy is to hide from me, hide from the media, and hide from you, the voter,” Lake said, announcing her tour.

President Donald Trump praised Lake, calling her an “ALL STAR,” during his Mesa rally in Arizona Sunday night.

“Arizona could not ask for a governor with more energy, passion, toughness, brilliance, and determination to secure your borders…” Trump said.
