Thousands of pro-life activists attended the 51st annual March for Life rally on Friday in the nation’s capital.

Attendees endured harsh winter conditions to participate in the march aimed at preserving the lives of babies and equipping mothers with sustainable resources. Supporters travel every year from various regions of the country to pray, sing, and advocate for the protection of the most vulnerable.

Kickstarting the 2024 event was American Idol finalist Danny Gokey, who gave a live performance of Christian and patriotic music. Following, guests heard from like-minded speakers, including Speaker of the House Mike Johnson, R-La.

In his address, Johnson stressed his desire to “stand with every woman for every child” and to “build a culture that cherishes and protects life.”

The nonprofit organization began as a public protest against the Supreme Court’s decision that ruled in favor of Roe v. Wade in 1973.

The controversial opinion invalidated the sovereignty of policy-making in all 50 states regarding the issue, therefore, legalizing abortion.

However, in 2022, the Supreme Court overruled the unconstitutional precedence and returned to the states the proper role of legislating the matter. The historic win for the pro-life movement was determined by a 5-3 vote.

Significantly, three of the five justices were appointed by President Donald Trump. The appointees included Justices Amy Coney Barrett, Neil Gorsuch, and Brett Kavanaugh, all of whom sided with Justices Samuel Alito and Clarence Thomas in the majority.

Two years before the archival decision, Trump made history as he became and remains the only sitting president to speak at the national March for Life meeting.

Further cementing his legacy as an advocate for life, President Trump assured the Faith and Freedom Coalition’s “Road to Majority” crowd that he will “continue to fight against the demented late-term abortionists in the Democrat Party who believe in unlimited abortion-on-demand and even executing babies after BIRTH.”
