Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., called out the U.S. government’s “failed policies” affecting the nation’s economic landscape on Friday.

“As we are shopping for the next school year, I can’t get over how much school supplies have gone up,” Greene stated on Twitter. “Inflation is the result of government failed policies & massive overspending, and it’s a cruel tax on everyone.”

She added, “The people must hold elected leaders accountable.”

This month, inflation in America skyrocketed to unprecedented levels with a 40-year high of 9.1 percent, according to the Consumer Price Index summary. President Trump remarked, “How can businesses survive this? Our Country is so weak right now because the Radical Left Democrats have no clue what they are doing.”

The economy hit another low this week as the United States officially entered a technical recession after suffering two consecutive quarters of negative economic growth. RSBN previously reported that the U.S. economy contracted 0.9 percent in the second quarter, followed by a 1.6 percent contraction in the first quarter.

Greene additionally called for accountability on Twitter. “We are all a sum total of our decisions and none of us can escape the consequences for our decisions,” she wrote. “As a nation, we are all suffering from the consequences of the sum total of decades of horrible government decisions. The decision makers must change or we won’t make it.”

Greene’s call for a change of political leadership has not fallen on deaf ears. A July report from Rasmussen found that 49 percent of likely U.S. voters are poised to vote for a Republican candidate in the 2022 midterms, giving the GOP a distinct 10-point advantage on the congressional ballot ahead of Democrats.
