Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., filed two articles of impeachment against FBI Director Christopher Wray on Tuesday over his “facilitating the development of a Federal police force to intimidate, harass, and entrap American citizens.”
The first article accused the director of refusing to ensure that the laws passed by Congress and signed by the president were “faithfully executed,” while the second claimed his actions are “incompatible with democracy, self-governance, and the rule of law.”
Greene cited the FBI and Wray’s “unprecedented raid” on President Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate, and their establishment of a “terrorist threat tag” to target pro-live individuals after Roe v. Wade was overturned as justification for impeachment.
She also cited the alleged actions of a senior bureau official, who she claimed had shielded a laptop belonging to Hunter Biden from a criminal probe, as an example of corruption from the FBI and Wray.
“Director Wray has become a lackey of the Biden regime, persecuting the enemies of his handlers, including both public and private citizens,” Greene wrote in the impeachment articles.
She also submitted two articles of impeachment against U.S. Attorney Matthew Graves, claiming his refusal to prosecute violent criminals has led to “the explosion of violent crime” in the nation’s capital city.
During the House Oversight Committee’s crime hearing from Tuesday, Greene said Graves had not prosecuted 67 percent of “real criminals” arrested by police, while vigorously pursuing cases against those involved with Jan. 6.
“The time for weaponizing the Department of Justice needs to come to an end. And because you refuse to prosecute real criminals that are violating all the crimes here in Washington, D.C., and you want to talk about D.C. residents—they are victims of your abuse of power,” Greene said to Graves during the hearing.
Greene celebrated the move to impeach both Wray and Graves in a post on her Twitter, writing how she has “heard from countless people” in support of the impeachment, and that there would be “More to come.”
In the coming weeks, the U.S. House may investigate the articles through an impeachment inquiry, per procedure. If a simple majority of those voting pass the resolution, Wray and Graves would be impeached.
