Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., shared her thoughts on Friday about what qualifications she believes an ideal U.S. Speaker of the House should have when Republicans take back Congress.
“What I’m looking for is fearless leadership,” she said during a discussion onstage in Texas at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC).
She continued, “I’m looking for a speaker that’s not gonna be pushed around by the lobbyists and the corporate PACs because I don’t take their money.”
Greene also said that she would look for a speaker that is “going to think about those small business owners the same way they think about the corporate owners and the same way they think about the janitors, the truck drivers, and the factory workers.”
She added, “I want a speaker that’s going to put America first, all of your money first, our borders and our children’s future above everything. That’s the future Speaker of the House.”
Greene additionally touched on the media’s attempt to smear her character after referring to herself as a Christian nationalist at Turning Point USA’s Student Action Summit in Tampa, Florida, in July.
“…When I said that I’m a Christian nationalist, I have nothing to be ashamed of,” she said, “because that’s what most Americans are. We’re proud of our faith. We’re proud of our faith and we love our country. And that will make America great again – when we lean into Biblical principles, you know. Is there anything wrong with loving God and loving others? No.”
Greene also mentioned that she was the most attacked member of Congress in U.S. history. “So, I don’t back down from those comments,” she concluded, “but I denounce the lying media for what they’ve said. Enough of it.”
