First Lady Melania Trump’s stunning success with her Amazon MGM documentary film, “MELANIA,” has been so resounding that the movie is reportedly expanding to another 200 screens this week, even in traditionally “blue” urban areas like Minneapolis.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film will show in theaters across the U.S. in places like Chicago, Minneapolis, Los Angeles, and Boston.
“MELANIA” has proven to be a box office triumph for the First Lady and for director Brad Ratner, of “Rush Hour” and “X-Men” fame.
The opening weekend of the film was projected to rake in about $8 million – the strongest opening for a documentary in nearly a decade, per RSBN.
The movie centers on the 20 days of Mrs. Trump’s preparation for the 2025 historic inauguration of her husband, President Donald Trump. It marked just the second time in U.S. history that a president was inaugurated for a second non-consecutive term.
“She’s crushing it, and I’m proud of her,” said Mrs. Trump’s longtime advisor and a producer on the film, Marc Beckman. “It’s well deserved. But more importantly, the consumer sentiment, the fans who are going to the theaters, have given her a very, very prestigious ranking, an A Cinemascore, which is extremely rare.”
Indeed, “MELANIA” has garnered an A score on Cinemascores’ website, known for measuring movie appeal among theater audiences. It is currently ranked higher than two other mainstream releases, “Send Help” and “Shelter.”
The documentary has also garnered positive feedback from viewers on Rotten Tomatoes, where cinema-goers have given the film a 99 percent fresh audience score, per RSBN.
According to THR, the First Lady’s successful film will be available to stream on Amazon Prime later, possibly as far out as Summer 2026. This streaming date may also reportedly include two or three additional episodes comprised of “bonus footage” from the making of the film.
