Former Vice President Mike Pence stated Thursday in an interview with Ruthless Podcast that he and President Donald Trump have spoken “probably a dozen times since the inauguration.”
The reportedly patched-up relationship between President Trump and Mike Pence was allegedly tense going into the certification of the electoral votes for the 2020 presidential election on Jan. 6, 2021. Pence certified the electoral votes which gave Joe Biden a path to the White House.
Heading into the certification on Jan. 6, President Trump told his supporters, “If Mike Pence does the right thing, we win the election…we are supposed to protect our country and support our Constitution.”
Despite Mike Pence’s decision to certify the votes, regardless of the public pressure to reject them, the former vice president made clear in the Ruthless Podcast interview that he maintains the utmost respect for Donald Trump.
He praised Trump’s executive leadership skills, sharing that, “Watching the way that President Trump was involved in the legislative process was…just amazing.”
As for the future, Mike Pence is working to advocate on behalf of his own conservative policy organization called Advancing American Freedom.
“And I believe that the future is bright,” Pence added. “We…have to articulate a conservative agenda that will draw the American people to us, that would show how we would govern differently during our administration and facing the challenges going forward.”
Whether or not Mike Pence will return as a running mate for President Trump in 2024 remains to be seen, yet is unlikely due to strong public disapproval of the former vice president.
