In response to the Colorado Supreme Court ruling removing President Trump’s name from the ballot, National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) chairman Steve Daines has donated funds to President Trump’s legal defense fund.
Breitbart reported that Daines, who is the chairman of the NRSC and who has endorsed President Trump, has donated $5,000 from his leadership PAC to President Trump’s legal defense team as they prepare to fight this decision.
In his statement obtained exclusively from Breitbart, Daines wrote, “What happened in Colorado was a disgrace to our country and our democracy.”
Daines added, “Democrats are using an underhanded strategy of legal warfare and election interference to take President Trump out because they know Joe Biden’s record of open borders, high prices, and out-of-control crime is indefensible.”
Daines, a U.S. senator from Montana, has been vocal about his disapproval of Biden’s inability to solve the ongoing border crisis, writing on X: “On Monday alone, 12,600 migrants illegally crossed our southern border—a new record. When will @JoeBiden and Senate Democrats get serious about securing the southern border?”
In addition to donating funds for President Trump’s defense team, Daines also plans to file an amicus brief, where he will ask the U.S. Supreme Court to reverse what he calls election interference.
Daines also calls on other Republican candidates like U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley and Gov. Ron DeSantis, R-Fla., to come together and support President Trump.
Breitbart reported that Daines said, “Because it’s clear President Trump is going to be the nominee for Republicans for president, and the sooner we coalesce around him, the better it’s going to be.”
RSBN shared that fellow candidate Vivek Ramaswamy has shown his support for President Trump by withdrawing from the GOP ballot in Colorado until President Trump is allowed back on the ballot. Other candidates also weighed in. Haley blasted the court’s decision, calling it “truly unthinkable,” according to The Hill.
