The IRS has set specific requirements for new agents that require them to be armed and “willing to use deadly force, if necessary.”

According to the agency’s website, IRS agents are expected to “maintain a level of fitness necessary to effectively respond to life-threatening situations” and “carry a firearm and be willing to use deadly force, if necessary.” They also must “be willing and able to participate in arrests, execution of search warrants, and other dangerous assignments.”

The alarming job description comes as the agency seeks to hire 87,000 new agents after the U.S. Senate approved the Inflation Reduction Act on a party-line vote, with Kamala Harris being the tie-breaker, The Epoch Times reported.

The outlet noted that the legislation, which allocates $80 billion to the IRS, has led Republicans to sound the alarm, warning middle-class families and small business owners that the agency will target them.

“Joe Biden is building an army of IRS agents to harass and bully the middle class. It’s something that should concern every American taxpayer,” Rep. Tom Emmer, R-Minn., the chairman of the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC), told Fox News Digitial. “The IRS targeted conservatives during the Obama administration, so it’s fair to wonder whether Joe Biden will use his new IRS army to attack conservatives.”

Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, introduced an amendment that would have struck the funding needed for the new IRS agents but was ultimately rejected by Democrats, Just the News reported.

“My amendment would have struck the funding for 87,000 new IRS agents,” Cruz wrote on Twitter. “But Democrats want to target the American people and their small businesses will more audits. These agents aren’t going to go after billionaires.”

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis also pushed back on the Democrat-led measure while speaking out against the FBI’s raid on President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home on Monday evening, RSBN reported.

“The raid of MAL is another escalation in the weaponization of federal agencies against the Regime’s political opponents, while people like Hunter Biden get treated with kid gloves,” DeSantis tweeted. “Now the Regime is getting another 87k IRS agents to wield against its adversaries? Banana Republic.”
