A recent CBS News poll revealed that Republican voters appear to significantly trust President Donald Trump more on information regarding the Ukraine-Russia war over the Pentagon.
In the CBS News/YouGov poll released over the weekend, 2,399 U.S. adults were questioned from April 9 to 12 about topics ranging from foreign wars to Joe Biden’s current approval rating.
A notable response from the survey found that 79 percent of Republican voters trusted Trump more on the information about the Ukraine-Russia war over the Pentagon, which was the second-most trusted source with 60 percent for GOP voters.
While the poll questioned a range of political affiliations, Republican voters appeared to have significant differences between Trump and the alternative options. Regarding Joe Biden, the outlet asked voters: “When deciding your views about the conflict between Ukraine and Russia, which of these do you trust and not trust for information about what’s happening there?”
11 percent of GOP voters stated they trusted Biden on the topic, 27 percent stated they trusted the U.S. State Department, 33 percent trusted journalists and media reports from the war zone, 15 percent trusted progressive media and outlets, and 56 percent trusted conservative media and outlets.
Since the war began in February 2022 after Russia invaded Ukraine, the United States media and lawmakers have been extremely divided on the issue. However, many Republicans have continued to sound off on the massive amounts of aid being given to Ukraine as the conflict appears to have no end in sight.
The Biden administration reportedly gave Ukraine an estimated $75 billion in assistance over the last two years in humanitarian, financial, and military support, according to the Council on Foreign Relations.
