The court date has been set to hear arguments in President Donald Trump’s appeal in a civil court verdict that could cost him $489 million.

The oral arguments are scheduled for noon on Thursday in the Appellate Division, First Judicial Department in Manhattan.

Trump’s lawyers are asking for the verdict to be nullified concerning claims that he deceived banks and insurers about his wealth in making loans. The lawyers argue that Judge Arthur Engoron’s verdict was “egregious,” according to the Associated Press.

The announcement comes as New York’s highest court rejected Trump’s gag order appeal earlier this month over supposedly falsifying business records in May.

As RSBN previously reported, in June the 45th president’s lawyers attempted to lift the gag order that was imposed on March 26, citing the gag order as unconstitutional. The gag order, which remains partially in effect, bars Trump from making public remarks about the prosecutors involved in the case.

This latest appeal focused on the narrowed terms of the gag order, not the full set of restrictions. These narrowed terms came after New York Judge Juan Merchan lifted parts of the order.

These lifted parts allow Trump to make public statements about witnesses and jurors from the May trial, but still infringe on Trump’s freedom of speech.

Trump’s lawyers also asked Judge Juan Merchan in July to throw out his guilty verdict in a New York hush money case after the Supreme Court’s ruling in favor of presidential immunity.

The move follows a 6-3 decision by the Supreme Court’s justices on July 1 that granted presidential immunity for “official acts” while in office.

“Because of the implications for the institution of the Presidency, the use of official-acts evidence was a structural error under the federal Constitution that tainted [the District Attorney’s] grand jury proceedings as well as the trial,” defense lawyers Todd Blanche and Emil Bove wrote, according to ABC News.

Trump’s numerous legal battles also include a Washington, D.C., case related to Jan. 6. Another case concerning allegations of classified documents found in his Florida home was thrown out, but may still face an appeal from special counsel Jack Smith.
