After 17 seasons, longtime head coach at Alabama, Nick Saban, is reportedly retiring, according to ESPN senior writer Chris Low, who dropped the major news on Wednesday afternoon.

According to Low, Saban privately announced the news to his team. Although a public announcement has yet to be made.

Low wrote on X, “One of the greatest runs in college football history is over. Nick Saban informed his team today that he’s retiring, sources tell ESPN. He won six national championships at Alabama and one at LSU.”

Marking the end of an era for the Crimson Tide, Saban is considered legendary for his transformation of Alabama’s team, per Yahoo News.

While some football fans lament Saban’s retirement news, rival teams may see it as an opportunity. One Auburn fan told RSBN, “The bad man is gone.”
