Independent journalist Nick Shirley reminded Americans of the power of truth and courage during his CPAC speech on Thursday.
He pointed out that “non-controversial issues are becoming controversial inside of America” with the exposure of fraud, demanding voter ID, and supporting biological women’s rights being considered hot-button issues.
Shirley stated that he was speaking not from a Republican or Democrat point of view but as an American. “We all live inside of the same country, and we should all want the best for our country,” he said, noting that his reports exposing fraud should not have become the controversy that they did. “Elected officials are not supposed to represent 50 percent of the population; they’re supposed to represent 100 percent of the population.”
He explained that when Minnesota and California funding goes to fraudsters, every American is being robbed. He then stated that during his reporting, he found that American funds were being sent overseas by foreigners who were committing serious fraud. “It’s crazy to see that in all 50 states there is fraud,” he said. “However, it seems to be that most of the fraud is in a lot of these blue cities.”
Then noted that local and state politicians have smeared him and even incited violence against him for reporting the truth about fraud, naming California Governor Gavin Newsom as one of the personal attackers. “How have we gotten to that point where we’ve lost common sense and where non-controversial issues have become controversial?” he asked.
Shirley noted his growing respect for President Teddy Roosevelt’s ‘Man in the Arena’ speech about having the courage to fight for a worthy cause when others criticize. “We’re all fighting for a worthy cause inside of our communities, with our families, in our churches, at our schools, because a lot of things that we’re fighting against are non-controversial issues that have become controversial,” he stated.
“Each one of us has to step up and become that ‘man in the arena,’” he declared. He warned about mainstream media propaganda and the people who will turn on others because they trust the media without thinking critically for themselves. “We cannot ever pander to the critics, and we have to keep pursuing a worthy cause because what we’re fighting for is worthy. America’s the greatest country in the world.”
He concluded, “I know you guys are all ready to become that man or that woman in the arena because it is a worthy cause that we are fighting for.”
