President Donald Trump indicated during an interview released on Sunday that he does not plan to run for the White House again if he loses in November.

Trump shared the information during Sharyl Attkisson’s “Full Measure” program.

“If you’re not successful, do you see yourself running again in four years?” Attkisson asked.

“No, I don’t. No, I don’t. I think that that will be, that will be it. I don’t see that at all,” Trump answered. “I think that hopefully we’re going to be successful.”

Asked whether the four-year break between his first term and potential second term helped him, Trump responded, “It would have been easier if I did it … contiguous.”

“But the benefit is more than anything else, it shows how bad they were,” he added.

The surprising response comes as Trump faces a close race against Vice President Kamala Harris, now focused on seven key swing states. Trump has been campaigning unofficially since President Joe Biden took office in 2021.

Harris recently became her party’s nominee after Biden stepped down from reelection despite her not running during the primary or receiving any votes.

Trump, 78, would face a steep challenge running for a fourth consecutive term after two losses and running at the age of 82. He is instead fully focused on winning in 2024, adding numerous campaign stops and rallies nationwide in an effort to secure the votes needed to make his victory “too big to rig.”

Harris has faced criticism for avoiding public speaking opportunities. During a rare appearance with Oprah on Friday, Harris was blasted on social media for her remarks that included an off-script comment about guns.

“If someone breaks into my house, they’re getting shot,” Harris told Oprah.

Harris quickly added, “I probably should not have said that, but my staff will deal with that later.”

While Harris has sought to strengthen her support among voting segments such as women and Black voters, Trump has focused significant effort in Pennsylvania, a key swing state with 19 electoral votes. He claimed during an early Monday post that, “Comrade Kamala just lost Pennsylvania!” citing a report of her previous support for a fracking ban.

Fracking serves as a key part of the state’s oil industry that impacts thousands of jobs for Pennsylvania voters.
