Opposition to Disney’s Woke Agenda Has Reached a Blue State

by Elad Hakim

Disney is facing extraordinary backlash due to its “woke” agenda. The company’s problems started after CEO Bob Chapek denounced Florida’s Parental Rights in Education Act, which bars sexual orientation or gender identity instruction in kindergarten through third grade.

The Florida law protects children and prevents indoctrination in the state’s public schools and classrooms. Along those same lines, the law protects the rights of parents, who are ultimately the ones who should discuss such topics with their children if and when they decide to do so.

Disney’s opposition to the Florida law and its decision to “go woke” has impacted the company. While Disney first felt the immediate effects in Florida, protests have now taken place in other states, including California, a reliably blue state.

Earlier this week, protestors gathered in front of Disney headquarters in Burbank, California, chanting “Boycott Disney.”

According to Hold the Line founder Sean Feucht, who helped plan the California rally:

“They’re going to feel this in their earnings reports, and they’re also they’re going to feel this as people cancel their subscription as they raise their voice. It always starts small… but I feel like there’s a snowball that’s happening.”

“This is the year of the parents in America, 2022 is the year of the parents. And this is another opportunity for us to rise up and to hold the line.”

Many Americans agree with Feucht’s concerns. More specifically, parents expect their children to be safe at school and learn safe and child-appropriate material. To that end, they oppose any efforts to sexualize their children.

Disney’s decision to implement a “woke” agenda could seriously hurt the company’s reputation, image, and finances.

Whether Disney decides to remove “gender greetings” from its parks or a leaked video meeting of Disney executives depicting one employee pushing a “not-at-all-secret gay agenda” within production, many people throughout the country are pushing back.

As Feucht noted, “Disney has entertained our kids for decades. We’ve loved it… but they crossed a line in the sand when they began to enable those who want to fight to sexualize our kids.”
