More than six million Americans have signed up for the famously long-awaited “Trump Accounts,” launched by the U.S. Treasury on July 4, according to President Trump.

During a Rose Garden lunch event at the White House on Monday, the president lauded the new investment accounts, which will be federally seeded with $1,000 for eligible children.

“Already more than six million Americans have signed up for Trump Accounts,” the president said. “…The Trump Accounts could grow to hundreds of thousands of dollars by the time they reach 18 or 21, or they can leave the account and have it put into a different fund at a certain point in their life.”

U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has been an integral leader in bringing Trump Accounts to life, and upon its launch, he noted, “Trump Accounts are now live, giving every child a stake in the American Dream from day one thanks to President Trump. Trump Accounts app is now updated with the full suite of account capabilities: you can start funding your child’s account, exploring financial education modules, and more.”

The Trump Accounts were initially made possible through the Working Families Tax Cuts signed by President Trump in 2025.

“For years, Washington politicians have left our children with nothing but debt, nothing but problems,” President Trump said on Monday. “Now, with the help of so many of you here today, we’re jump-starting financial freedom for young Americans and helping them to build the future they deserve.”

On Monday morning, President Trump rang the bell for the New York Stock Exchange and the Nasdaq in celebration of the launch of Trump Accounts. He said during those initial remarks in the Oval Office that the Trump administration had already deposited $1,000 into the accounts of more than 500,000 American children so far.

Dell Technologies CEO Michael Dell additionally announced Monday morning that he and his wife, Susan, would contribute $6.25 billion to the Trump Accounts, providing 25 million more eligible American children with $250 in seed money if they were born between 2016 and 2024.
