Oversight Committee Chairman Rep. James Comer, R-Ky., urged Republicans to support a resolution holding Attorney General Merrick Garland in contempt of Congress.

The House Oversight Committee posted a clip of Comer arguing, “President Biden lied to the American people about his mishandling of classified documents.”

He noted Biden’s continued claims that he knew nothing of his family’s questionable activity and that his Department of Justice has allegedly protected him from prosecution.

“The House of Representatives cannot serve as a necessary check on the presidency if the executive branch is free to ignore the House’s subpoenas,” he added, urging House members to vote to hold Garland in contempt.

According to the Associated Press, Garland refused to comply with congressional subpoenas regarding Biden’s classified documents investigation and faces becoming the third attorney general in the nation’s history to be held in contempt.

This is not the first time Congress has addressed issues with Garland. In 2023, RSBN reported that Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, led a House investigation of alleged retaliation carried out by Garland against an IRS whistleblower who testified against Hunter Biden.

In addition, Garland found himself, along with the Department of Justice, being sued by America First Legal for “failing to require Hunter Biden to register as a foreign agent while Joe Biden was Vice President.”

The ongoing investigations surrounding the Biden family have been a top priority of the House Oversight Committee and a vote to determine whether or not to hold Garland in contempt is expected to be held Wednesday afternoon, per Fox News
