House Oversight Committee Chair Rep. James Comer, R-Ky., announced that the committee is ready to hold Hunter Biden in contempt for burying a lawful subpoena.
In an interview earlier this week on Fox News, Comer told news presenter Jason Chaffetz that the committee is now ready to start the process of holding Biden in contempt.
CNN reported that in December 2023, the House issued Biden a lawful subpoena to attend a closed-door deposition in relation to the Biden family’s dodgy business dealings to which he did not show up.
The Hill shared that Biden instead gave a press conference in front of the Senate, where he stated that he would only appear before the committee in a public setting.
Comer called out the blatant hypocrisy of the Democrats, explaining that during the Democrats’ Jan. 6 hearings, “they deposed President Trump’s family for 24 hours. So, President Trump’s kids and in-laws came in and sat for depositions for 24 hours.” However, when the committee does the same thing to Joe Biden’s son, he doesn’t cooperate.
Comer added, “We have all this political evidence of corruption by the Biden family, and we had given the president’s son a lawful subpoena. He defied that subpoena. I think the American people are seeing this hypocrisy play out.”
In the interview, Comer isn’t surprised by these actions and explains that more Americans are starting to expect this from them as well.
“The hypocrisy coming from Democrat leaders around the country with respect to election interference is breathtaking,” said the congressman. Comer also believes there will be a lot more of this hypocrisy to come. He said it’s all just an attempt by the Democrats to “create a narrative that the Republicans are a threat to democracy.”
While the committee is just getting started with the process of holding Biden in contempt, RSBN reports that they’re also starting the impeachment proceedings of Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas. If Comer is correct, it looks like the committee is in for a busy year.
